Mission Statement:

The mission of the Thelma Smiley Morris Library Media Center is to provide information services that support teaching and learning and to ensure students become effective users of ideas and information.


  • To provide an environment conducive to independent and group learning.
  • To provide print and nonprint material, equipment, and technology that is available to students and teachers.
  • To work with other educators to design strategies to meet the needs of the students.

Expectations and Rules for Students:

1. Enter and leave the Media Center quietly.

2. Handle materials with care.

3. Follow directions from the media specialist or the media clerk.

4. Talk during appropriate times.

5. Seat in chairs correctly.

6. Ask for help when you need it.

Check-out Limits:

  • Kindergarten students may check out one book.
  • 1st grade students may check out one books.
  • 2nd grade students may check out two books.
  • 3rd grade students may check out three books.
  • 4th and 5th grade students may check out four books.
  • All books may be checked out for a one week period.
  • Students may renew books as needed.
  • Students must pay for lost or damaged books before checking out any other items.


Lost and Damaged Books:

Minor damages like small tears, pen, and pencil marks often can be repaired at the Library Media Center. Books beyond repair or those damaged by food or liquid cannot be re-shelved and they must be replaced. Parents will be notified as to the cost of the replacement copy.
